The Survival Medic

In a “Grid Down” or post disaster world, a basic working knowledge of first aid and wilderness medicine can mean the difference between life and death. This weekend workshop is designed to provide participants with the skills and confidence to treat a range of conditions from simple bleeding to more traumatic injuries such as amputated limbs. Whether it is something as simple as an outbreak of Poison Ivy or a more serious water born disease, participants will learn techniques to treat many common and not so common injuries and health conditions. This is an intensive training and will include scenarios in which participants will be required to provide Basic Life Support (BLS) to include a head to toe survey, CPR if required and extrication from the field. This class will also include an introduction to basic suturing techniques. Prior medical training is not necessary for this course. Successful participation will qualify participants to attend the more advance Survival Medic training to be offered at a future date.

Training will be conducted by Darryl Patton
